Tell Me Where It Hurts by Dr. Nick Trout

This book is of the "local flavor" type.  It's the memoir of an animal surgeon working at Angell Memorial, which is a big animal hospital in the Boston area.  I like books about animals and animal doctors, such as the memoir by Dr. Camuti that I read last year.  This book was less touching and funny than that one, though.  It was more focused on interactions between vets and staff, vets and pet owners, et cetera.  There was also a fair amount of discussion of questions like, why do people spend huge sums of money on pets, why is cosmetic surgery performed on animals, and why do vets commit suicide more often than people in other healing professions?  Overall, it was more technical than I really wanted it to be - I was just looking for something sweet and touching.  Two and a half stars.
