Years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I moved a mere two hours away from the closest Ikea store. One day I found myself back in Pittsburgh. Both my kids were with me. Even having the youngest still in a carseat did not deter my Ikea longings.
So I shopped. And shopped. And I shopped some more. When it was time to load the car, there person with the most space, was my child in the car seat. The drivers seat had to be all the way forward. My then eight year old didn't care that she only had about 6 inches of room because she spent the afternoon in the ball room. There were boxes of bookcases tied down to the car roof.
Now, did I fail to mention that I only had a CAR at that time? Nope nary was there a roof rack. The weight of those boxes caused the roof to cave in a broke the plastic housing around the car light!
The morale of this story: 1. Either don't wait so long between Ikea visits, or 2. Take a vehicle with more storage room. My vote is to do both. I think I see an Ikea visit in my future for today!
