accessory swap!
May. 21st, 2007 01:05 pmThe trendy purse that seemed like a good idea at the time. The tie you got for the job interview that landed you the job... from hell. Hair-things that suit a hair length you no longer have. The shoes that only looked good on your ex. The scarf that someone left at that party at your house... a year ago.
I think you all know where I'm going with this.
mrpet and I are planning an accessory swap for Sunday, June 24th, and you're invited!
Time: 2 pm to 5 pm
Place: our place in Somerville - if you don't know where it is, you'll need to contact us for directions
Concept: we all bring our old accessories, and we swap them for exciting, new-to-us accessories. The leftover accessories will go to Goodwill.
What not to bring: clothes, beauty products, and anything too worn or dirty for a thrift store.
IF YOU WANT TO COME: Please email or leave a comment with your shoe size. This will really help with the feasibility of the shoe part.
IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE NOTHING TO CONTRIBUTE: No worries! Please just make arrangements to help out with the sorting (before the swap) or the Goodwill drop-off (after the swap). There will be enough stuff for everyone. That's the voice of experience talking. :)
Q: Can I drop my accessories off in advance?
A: Absolutely! We encourage this, as it allows us to do some pre-swap sorting that will make the whole thing easier. You can drop stuff off on our porch the week before the swap. Other arrangements available by request.
Q: Can I bring my sweetie/friend/roommate?
A: You bet! The more, the merrier.
Q: Can I bring my kid?
A: Yes, if you're willing to keep a close eye on them. Our house is SO not childproof. We also can't promise there will be other children for them to hang out with, so bring something to entertain them with that doesn't require a TV.
Q: How much stuff is the right amount to bring?
A: A good rule of thumb is somewhere between a paper bag and a car trunk's worth of stuff. It's okay if you have less, especially if you come towards the end of the swap, when there will be piles of stuff already. If you have more than a car trunk's worth, please choose the best stuff to bring.
Q: I don't want accessories to wear, but I could use them in my art/crafts.
A: Great!
