I am having a really good time tonight working on fixing up a clock I got at Goodwill. [livejournal.com profile] 7j and I collaborated on a clockface, and I've been trying out some different versions of it, cleaning all the bits and pieces...

I decided to unscrew one of the supports to find out why that corner of the clock was shaky. As I suspected, it is not a loose screw but what the screw is attached to that is the problem, and some wood glue is needed. It is really neat to feel like I'm getting at least a minimal clue about how to fix things, based on how [livejournal.com profile] 7j, [livejournal.com profile] teratomarty and I fixed up my bedside table. I mean, I'm never gonna be butch, but maybe I'm learning the equivalent of restarting your computer for minor carpentry repairs.

Maybe the clock isn't worth the time I'm putting into it, from the standpoint of what it probably cost originally. But I'm having such a good time, and if it works out, I'll be really happy with the end result.

After the clock is all set, then I'll just need bed hangings and my room will be done getting redecorated! At least, you know, until the next thing I think of. Unless you count my new mattress, which will be delivered next week.
