This week I finished Undead and Unreturnable by MaryJanice Davidson, and Hunter's Moon by CJ Adams and Cathy Clamp. I've been in the mood for light sexy stuff, and these suit the bill fine.
Undead and Unreturnable, of course, is another book in the Betsy Taylor: Shoe-Loving Queen of the Vampires series. I enjoyed it. I wish they were longer. I wish there were more of them. She didn't go shoe-shopping in this book, which made me sad, but there were other amusements, such as rehabilitating deranged vampires with fiber arts. Also, it had more sex than the past few. Fun fun fun. Three stars.
I did not have high hopes for Hunter's Moon. I saw it at the library and thought I'd give it a try. You can't find new authors to love unless you take chances sometimes, you know? It was categorized as a YA book, and I usually like YA books, especially those with supernatural themes. However, I wish to tell you right now that in my personal belief this book is not suitable for young adults. The cover was kind of hokey but I tried it out. I was totally blown away. Wow. So many Hamilton-wannabes get all this press, and I had never HEARD of this book, and it was TERRIFIC. Let's see - organized crime, family drama, romance. Oh, right, and the main character is a werewolf hit man with unresolved personal issues. It did my heart good. The action was fast-paced but believable. The characters were likeable and their motivations were easy to understand. I normally don't like books where the viewpoint moves around, but this one was great. Try it, you'll like it! Things were definitely set up for a sequel - me, I hope they write at least five more. Four stars for book 103.
