So, things are progressing with the lovely lady Bast.

She now no longer runs away immediately if you're in the same room with her. She'll hang out for a bit. Also, she's spending more and more time exploring the apartment, not just hiding out upstairs. Furthermore, now, when something happens that makes her get scared and run away, she doesn't stay scared. She comes back slowly to check it out. I think she's getting used to us, and Pretzel, and the space.

(I'm not sure the name Bast suits her, she's so shy. What's a good name for a shy little girl?)

We have decided to keep her for a few more months and see how things go. We can be patient. alcinoe is being very understanding.

I'm inclined to say let her grown into her name.

freakydimension's cat Theo was very, very skittish and scared of people when he first brought him home. Now two-and-a-half years later, Theo is quite personable with us. Ben claims that my being around has helped socilize Theo a lot more.

Sometimes these things just do take time, as you've noted. As long as she keeps being sweet and gets more and more comfortable, I think you guys are on the right track.
