Today, I decided to walk to Harvard Square to have lunch with a sweetie and run a few errands. At the time I made the decision, it was alternating rain and snow. However, it cleared up wonderfully and was actually warm enough I wished I had worn a lighter jacket. Neat! This is really different from last January. I hope we'll keep having nice weather like this for Arisia.
I walked to Harvard Square the non-Mass-Ave way that I like, going down Oxford Street. I walked back a new way - I wanted to find out if I could figure out a route on the other side of Mass Ave, and I did. It was long, at least the way that I went, trying to keep Mass Ave almost in sight but not actually being on it, and being in an unfamiliar neighborhood without a map, I had to retrace my steps a lot to keep from getting lost or going in the wrong direction. Also, I wished that I didn't have my parka, and that I had one less bag or at least not a hardcover book as my reading material. But that's okay.
Anyhow, it worked! Linnaean Street was somewhat of a landmark, since I used to use that going back and forth to Watertown, when I lived there. I was also on Bond Street and Assiza (sp). I'm pretty sure I could do it again and do it better. I think I'd like to try it from the other direction, too, I think it might be easier. But still, I came out right by the Thistle and Shamrock, a convenience store less than five minutes from my house, so that turned out well.
I'd like to walk again tomorrow. I hope it'll stay nice out for a little while longer.
