So, as a present, [livejournal.com profile] mrpet got me twelve miniature journals. They are so, so pretty.

Here is the question I wish to present: if you were to divide your life into different areas to write about, how would you do it? I think it would be neat to have each book devoted to one topic, instead of doing it "the easy way" and using one for each month.

I could write about crafts in one, books in another, food in a third. But then what would I do with the other nine? :)

Wait for topics to come up? Like, "Hey! I need a journal for my walks!" which you might not realize until spring.

Work, sex, shoes, video games, being cold. Those are the topics that immediately come to mind for me. :)

Umm ... people? Cats?

I don't know you well enough to even suggest a way to divide your relationships with people into journals - but you should write about your people too. People, and the journeys you make with or regarding them, are an important part of your life. I get four when I try to divide that up.

You could have a journal for your cats.

Of course, I'd go with monthly, just because when I write I frequently find it hard to confine myself to a single topic.

I can't even divide my LJ into topic filters. Everything's too interconnected. I'm no help--but yay anyway, for pretty journals and the endless possibilities they present.

crafts, books, food, movies/dvds, sexuality, gender, personal/emotional freewrites, spirituality, being a doula...?

One could be for your relationships.

One could be for notes about running your business (though if they are pretty journals, maybe you don't want them to be dedicated to mundane things like that).

One could be about spirituality.

One could be about sexuality, if that's not already encompassed by "relationships".

You're asking me, so the topics would be dance, gardening, musings on news & politics, creative writing, and then the mundane everyday details.
