I saw this during my recent library spree. It is the beginning of a new series by Simon R. Green, who I know of old from the Hawk and Fisher series. I read the first book in his Nightside series a few years back but didn't like it enough to keep going with it. I wanted to see if he had grown as a writer since the last times I had tried his work.
I did enjoy this book. It was fast-paced and funny. I liked the characters. The central plot was a little bit farfetched, but in more of a comic book/James Bond way than making me close the book in frustration.
I was a bit disappointed to hear that the second book in this new series, Daemons are Forever, includes a character from one of his other series. Geez. I was trying to get away from those! Anyway, I would give it three stars overall. Recommended for fans of urban fantasy written in a shoot-em-up style.
