some things I learned in my twenties
May. 3rd, 2008 09:16 am- Sleeping with someone again will not help you get over them. It will not get them "out of your system."
- Most friendships are not forever.
- It is not enough to brush and floss. You must also visit the dentist.
- Life is unpredictable. You will need savings, and you should tell people you love them as soon as you know.
- It is always less complicated to pay your own way, if you can.
- Humans are complicated. Truly intimate relationships are difficult.
- The poly community is small. Amicable breakups are valuable. Learning how to get along with your exes makes life a lot easier.
- Generally speaking, people don't change.
- Identity labels change over time, even when you don't expect them to, even when they're your own. The priority of identity labels in relation to each other and to your life also changes.
- There's usually a way to say it gently. Focus on how your words will be received for maximum effectiveness.
