mmm, crafty!

mrpet and I are having crafty time for our date.
I need a new project! Something that's fun and easy. I'm considering the following possibilities:
- A strip or triangle afghan. I already made an afghan with squares, so I'd like the next one to be a bit different. The advantage of strips is that there wouldn't be as much sewing at the end. The advantage of triangles is that I could make it freeform/modular, with the same triangle pattern in a bunch of different yarns, and then try to fit them together. If I did the triangle version, I'd make a small one to start.
- A string bag. Basically, an openwork crochet bag that you put your groceries or whatever in. They're small and compact, so you can carry one in your regular bag for those "I suddenly need to go to the store" type things. I'd probably make it out of some pretty cotton I got in a swap a while back.
- Something out of recycled plastic bags. I just think this idea is really cool, and I want to do something with it. Maybe a doormat?
Yes, there are many projects that I could be finishing (the convertible mittens would be nice to have around, as would the hot water bottle cozy which only need a little bit more work), but again, I want to start something easy.
