then, some thoughts about Dark Odyssey
Sep. 20th, 2005 11:44 amDark Odyssey is a really neat event. I had a wonderful time. There were so many classes and events that I wanted to go to while I was there, there just wasn't time for everything. And then there was the swimming pool (naked swimming!), play in the Dungeon, great conversation... anyway, I think it's a great experience for sex-positive folks of all stripes. I totally recommend it to everyone.
My favorite DO special events were the Descent of Inanna ritual, which I participated in, and the Garden of Carnal Delights, which was a delightful sex-focused event. I'm not sure I can describe either beyond that, except to say that they were awesome.
Two classes I went to and loved were Upping the Ante and Beyond the Body Binary. Two classes I heard great things about were Fundamentals of M/s and Art of Flirting. (I saw about a third of Art of Flirting, which made me wish I'd been there for the whole thing.) Then, I also wish I had had time to go to To Be (Or Not To Be) Monogamous - I think it would be fascinating to hear about some of the good things about monogamy from people who have actively chosen it, while being aware of other options and not thinking they're demonic.
The food wasn't great, but everything else sure was. I hadn't planned on participating in much more of the event than the ritual, but everything looked so good that I couldn't resist.
Also worth mentioning was that I was in a quiet cabin, WHICH WAS ACTUALLY QUIET. Unique among quiet cabins in my experience, so I actually was not sleep deprived. Can you imagine?
