I finished it this morning. When I was about a hundred pages from the ending, I found that I couldn't stop.
I think that this book, even more than the others, is a coming-of-age story. What happens when the elders you trust don't have all the answers, can't protect you anymore? I thought it was well-done.
Also, at this point I'm feeling curious about where Rowling will go next with the series. It seems as though this was the last Hogwarts' book. But not the last book in the series. I can imagine there being one more book, and then related series... or one more book for each aspect of Voldemort still alive.
Similarly, I'm wondering if there will be a further explanation of why Dumbledore went so far in trusting Snape.
Anyway, it was really good. If it's your sort of thing, read it.

Date: 2005-07-20 04:33 pm (UTC)Well, if this R.A.B. person has more than one artifact, then perhaps they just find him or her, instead.
I would think that this would be very hard to give up, though. Is she really going to be able to resist the temptation of writing more bestsellers? I mean, at this point, even if they're drek, they're going to sell.
and plus...

Date: 2005-07-20 05:01 pm (UTC)I will certainly miss them, that's for sure. (I found that, while starting to read this book, I got confused between the canon and the couple of really good fanfics I've read more recently than OotP. That's a slight problem, but I got over it.)

The letter was addressed to "The Dark Lord", which is what the Death Eaters called him. Everyone else says "He Who Shall Not be Named". Therefore, its probably a DE with the initials RAB who had cause to see Voldy go down. Only one DE besides Snape (maybe, the jury is still out on this one) would have that type of reason afaik... Regulus Black.
