in praise of Origins

About a year ago, starkeymonster introduced me to Origins skin care products. I was hooked immediately.

My most recent acquisitions: the award-winning Modern Friction scrub, which is a deep-down exfoliator with healing agents, and Matte Scientist, an oil-reducing moisturizing lotion that is rocking my world. My face doesn't feel greasy with MS, even in this weather. So delightful.

Their shower gels and body lotions are nice, but expensive. But their facial products, especially the Sensitive Skin line, are worth every last penny.

One time I stopped at an Origins at a mall and the fabulously gay man working the counter offered to have me try the new hand scrub, which involved him washing my hands and scrubbing them with the scrub.

I remember thinking to myself, "I will buy anything you hold in front of me if you just keep. scrubbing. my. hands."

I never used to go there until my ex specifically requested the Origins lip balm be sent to him (he was deployed in Iraq). I scoffed at the insane price of $6, but tried it before I sent it, and wow, it was good.
I may want to try some of their other stuff, especially for the face--I've been looking for a nice eye-area moisturizer.

They do have some nice eye stuff. I haven't actually bought any. But they give free samples of stuff, too, if you want to just try it out. I love that.

Eye doctor, their main eye moisturizer, is really fabulous. I highly reccomend it. Also, wander in and they will give you free samples of pretty much anything.

So my skin is crazy and randomly likes to freak out with allergic reactions and zits and puffy eyes and crap. Eye Doctor has never made me react badly. It feels great, smells great and yah. Good times.

Hi, I've been lurkily reading your journal for a little while, having found it through friends list surfing. So, hi! (BTW, I nearly finished certification with ALACE several years ago, whereupon I realized I was not cut out to run my own business, but I'm still pretty much a birth junkie, so if you want anyone who doesn't get wigged by same, say the word!) Anyway, this entry is so timely! I'm struggling with face madness and the medical profession is officially out to kill me. I need new options! I'll give it a look.

Hi, nice to hear from you! I understand where you're coming from - I've always wanted to work with birth, but had never really realized that doing it the way I wanted to would involve being in business for myself. I'm really not terribly prepared for that part. :) But, I don't want to be part of the medical establishment, because I'm not a big fan of how that tends to work. We'll see how it turns out. :)
