Gaian Mind

Okay, my brain is starting to work. A bit.
Gaian Mind was awesome. If I had known that there was a way that I could spend a bunch of days dancing half-naked in the woods to good music with a bunch of dirty freaks, I would have done it a lot sooner.
I'm going to make multiple posts about this, but for now:
- Dancing outside, in the sunlight, under trees, is really awesome. It makes sense that I can never really go all night with dancing - I'm not a night owl. It was great to be able to have hours and hours during the day where I could dance, unlike most pagan festivals where drumming is only at night. It was wonderful to get to dance the sun up - I hadn't done that in so long.
- Now that I know what it's like, I'm even more sad that
starkeymonster and
redjo weren't able to make it. I think they both would've had a wonderful time, for completely different reasons.
- The orzo salad that I made for the trip ROCKED. Orzo, fresh shelled peas that were microwaved very briefly, chicken, awesome sheep's milk cheese, and artichoke hearts.
-
michellemybell was serving me for the weekend, which was wonderful. I felt like I was living in the lap of luxury, even while camping.
- Body paint can be fun and pretty. (A lot more on the downside of how we got it, later.)
- Earplugs are great, but the foam ones aren't quite good enough for a place that has continuous music through an excellent soundsystem and no norms about when and where it's okay to make noise. Must get better earplugs.
- Being in a space where it's okay for women to go topless is really awesome. I spent most of Saturday bouncing around in a punk-chick skirt, sandals, and glitter. However, this makes the brains of a lot of guys melt, and apparently you are less approachable because they want to be polite and not notice your toplessness. I had more guys talk to me while I was wearing my bikini top then while I wasn't. (I wasn't looking to pick anyone up, so it was mostly just interesting.)
- There were a lot of people doing drugs in the space, but it was less of an issue than I expected it to be. Yes, it was upsetting to see a few people doing cocaine in public - but it was mostly stuff that was lower impact than that, we didn't see anyone collapse, and no one was pressureful about our doing anything. Most people were discreet about their use even though it was pretty obvious that as sober people we were in the minority.
- If anybody came up with natural bugspray/sunscreen with glitter in it, you could make millions off this community. Seriously. You heard it here first. If YOU make millions, buy me a pretty dress.
- Gatorade rocks.
- Flush toilets are pretty exciting, and so are non-inflatable beds. So there are some good things about civilization after all! I could use a pull shower all the time, though, and it wouldn't really bug me.
There are also lots of pictures coming up - I brought the digital with us.
It's actually hotter here than it was there. Or maybe it's just that the air is more close inside the house. I think I might have to have ice cream for breakfast.
