interruption of REM

So here's what I've noticed now two days in a row - if something wakes me up early in the morning, I don't remember as much of my dreams after that.

All I remember this morning was the song "Paralyser" in my head, and a feeling of thoughtfulness. No, that's not true - in my dream I was on a dock, all weatherbeaten. The sky was grey. I don't think anything was going on, I was just standing there, watching the birds. Interesting.

But still, two days in a row something has woken me up around six (yesterday it was my cats, today it was my neighbors) and I haven't remembered as much of my dreams either of those days.

an open letter to my neighber

Dear Neighbor,

I know that those of us who did not grow up in the city are often accustomed to thinking of our backyards as private places. However, this is less true in the city, especially when two houses are less than ten yards form each other.

I very much respect your desire to have barbecues and picnics in your backyard. I would never ask you not to. I do suggest that you remember that my room is less than 10 feet from your backyard. You might not wish to talk about things like your friend's problem with pot, the lawsuit about your job, or other stuff you don't want people to know about.

Additionally, I am aware that sometimes we need to make calls to different time zones. But, before six in the morning? In your yard? Please. Keep it in the house.

Very truly yours,

LadyA
